Newcastle Evening Chronicle 18/08/1994 reports

Lee Stephenson was a super fit Royal Marine who loved all sports and exercise. At 23 he was at the peak of his physical condition. Today the young serviceman, from Edmondsley, near Chester-le-Street, is being buried by his grief-stricken family. The lance-corporal who survived the Gulf War and Ulster keeled over with a heart attack while making tea for his mates. Despite attempts to revive him, he died almost immediately.
