In Malo-Les-Bains Communal Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 2654788 Guardsman Albert Stokoe, serving with the 2nd Battalion, Coldstream Guards who died between 10/05/1940 and the 30/06/1940.

Albert Stokoe, born 1914, was the 4th son of William Stokoe and his late wife, of Brandon, was reported as 'missing'.

Mrs Stokoe, [Albert's wife], residing at 9 Catherine Street, Bearpark, has now received official notification, on her second wedding anniversary that her husband died of wounds at Malo-Les-Bains in June last year, [1940]. He was aged 27, and had served three years in the Coldstream Guards, and was called up at the outbreak of the war. Before the war, he was employed at Pit House Colliery, Brandon.
