Archbishop Holgate School: Daran Walker

In Leadgate St. Ives is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of 149117 Flying Officer (Observer) John Anthony Edgar, D.F.C., serving with the 264 Squadron Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died 15/05/1944.

The headstone reads:-

In loving memory of
Hannah Dent Edgar
died Feb. 8th 1934 aged 46 years
and her son
Flying Officer
John Anthony Edgar D.F.C.
killed in action May 15th 1944
aged 26 years

R.I.P.

Daran Walker states that John Edgar Dent attended Archbishop Holgate's School in York. His name is on the war memorial plaque in the school. A photograph of the memorial is shown here.
