In Leadgate St. Ives Churchyard is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of 393109(1532) PrivateJames R. Hart serving on H.M.H.S. " Asturias" Royal Army Medical Corps who died 21/03/1917.

Son of William and Elizabeth Hart, of 2, Southcross St., Leadgate. Born at Saddleworth, Yorks.

The headstone reads:-

Pte., J.R. Hart R.A.M.C.
dearly beloved son of
William and Elizabeth Hart
of Leadgate
who was drowned at sea
22nd March 1917 aged 24 years

Loved by all
