Sgt. Robinson was serving with 625 Squadron. He was a crew member of Lancaster III LM424 CF-B which took off from Kelstern on a mission to Berlin. The aircraft crashed in Germany killing all the crew except one who was taken prisoner.
On the night of 16-17th December 1943, 70 aircraft were lost. Most were bombers with an average crew of 7, of whom a few were injured, some were taken prisoner but most were were killed.

Lancaster LM424 CF-B had departed Kelstern at 1612 for Ops Berlin. It was intercepted in the Quakenbruck area by a Night-Fighter captained by Nacht-Jagd “Experten” Maj Helmut Lent (Stab NJG 3) and shot down at 1907 for his 79th Abschuss.
