On the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing of the Somme are the names of:-

14058 Private Frederick Bell serving with the 9th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment who died 06/10/1916.

and

Tyneside Z/1558 Able Seaman John Bell, M.M. serving with the Hawke Battalion, Royal Naval Division, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 13/11/1916.

The sons of Thomas and Mary Bell, of 2, Quebec St., Langley Park, Durham.

In All Saints Churchyard is a family headstone which reads:-

In loving memory of
Florence Lydia
Dearly beloved
daughter of
Thomas and Mary Bell
who died Jan. 9th 1920
Aged 28 years
Also of their dear sons John
aged 22 years and Fred aged 19 years
who were killed in action in France 1916

??? Their eternal rest.

John and Fred Bell are remembered at Langley Park on L64.01 and L64.02
