Stoker, P., Signalman, 1944
In Cesena War Cemetery, Italy, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 2371534 Signalman Percy Stoker serving with the Eighth Army Signals, Royal Corps of Signals who died 10/12/1944.

Dorothy Hall has submitted the following:-

Percy Stoker, born in 1906, at Langley Park, was the son of Anderson, born 1875, and Jane Susannah, nee Raper, born 1873. He had a number of siblings: Anderson 1898, Wilfrid 1901, Hilda Maud 1903, Olive 1908, John 1913 and Jane 1916.

Percy married Elsie Thomas in 1935 at Romford, Essex.

In September 1939, the family were living at Peth Cottage, Lanchester. Anderson and Wilfrid were General Labourers. Jane was a housewife. Percy's brother Anderson was at 4, Church View, Lanchester and was a Grocery Warehouseman.

Percy died in 1944 in Italy. The inscription "In Loving Memory of My Dear Husband. Gone to Rest In Our Father's Home Above" was added to his headstone by Elsie.

Jane Susannah, died in 1956 and Anderson in 1960. They are buried in Lanchester Kitswell Road Cemetery.

Percy Stoker is remembered at Lanchester on L62.01 and L62.06
