Robinson, T., Cpl., 1916
In Bully-Grenay Community Cemetery, French Extension, Pas de Calais, France, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 21283 Corporal Thomas Robinson serving with the 13th Battalion Durham Light Infantry who died 06/04/1916.

Ian Murray has submitted the following:-

Thomas was born in Newbottle in 1895 to parents Thomas and Mary Robinson. In 1901 they lived at 5, Hopper Street, Dubmire, Newbottle but by 1911 were living at 19, West Terrace, Burnhope. Thomas’ occupation was coal miner/pony driver. He worked at Ritson's Colliery at Burnhope.

He served in the 13th Battalion of the Durham Light Infantry and died on 6th April 1916 and is buried in plot A63 at Bully-Grenay Communal Cemetery French Extension which lies about 20 kilometres north of Arras.

Around the time of Thomas’s death, the family were living at 1, Whitehouse Avenue, Burnhope.

One of Thomas’s brothers was called Joseph (born 1897). 21284 Private Joseph Robinson of the DLI, who survived the War could well be this brother, given the consecutive service numbers.

Awards: 1915 Star; British War Medal; Victory Medal.
