D.C.M. for Consett Sergeant.
Intelligence has been received by his relatives in Taylor Street, Consett, that Sergt. J. Shaw, of the 13th N.F. has been awarded the D.C.M. The distinction was conferred on May 8th for his work on April 24th while engaged in throwing bombs under shell fire. Sergt. Shaw was promoted to his present rank soon after the battle of Loos.
