In Byermoor (Sacred Heart) Roman Catholic Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of LT/LX29489 Leading Steward Thomas Dwyer serving with the H.M. Trawler Lord Hailsham, Royal Naval Patrol Service who died 27/02/1943.

Son of Matthew and Mary Dwyer, of Burnopfield.

The headstone reads:-

aged 23 years
