Simon Glancey has submitted the following:
Sgt. Amos was the mid-upper gunner in Handley Page Halifax III MZ409 CB-C of 640 Squadron which was lost on a mission to Bochum. The service records of F/Sgt. Alva Edison Rheubottom, R.C.A.F., the Air Bomber in the Halifax’s crew, state that the Halifax was seen by eye-witnesses enveloped in flames before it crashed onto a house at 210 Bahnstrasse, Wuppertal-Vohwinkel, with the loss of all seven crew members.
Norman Amos is remembered at Burnopfield on B155.01
