Family memorial: Aylmer Brothers

In St. Michael's Church is a stained glass window
of three lights dedicated to the Aylmer family
with a plaque which reads:

In memory of
Edmund Kendal Grimston Aylmer
C.B. late Colonel XIX Hussars
youngest son of J.H. Aylmer Esq.,
of Walworth Castle in this parish.
He joined the XIC Hussars in 1880, and
served with them in all their campaigns
being in command of the Regiment
during the South African War, from
1901, and until he retired in 1905.
He rejoined the Colours in 1914.
Born August 19th 1839.
Died March 28th 1931.
Buried at Caerdeon, Merioneth.
Loved and honoured by all who knew him.

and his elder brother
Gerald Percy Vivian Aylmer
of Walworth Castle. J.P. and D.L.
County of Durham High Sheriff 1887
Served in South African War 1899 to 1900.
Born July 8th 1856.
Died December 20th 1936
Buried at Caerdon.
