A stone bearing a plaque tells the story of the creation of the Millennium Maze in the grounds of Doxford Hall. It reads:

Millennium Maze
Doxford Hall
1000 children from First Schools in
Northumberland planted 3200 yew trees
to create the Maze, incorporating in its
labyrinth 1200 metres
of grass pathways and an area
of 1735 square metres.

Great Britain's largest permanent yew
maze was officially opened on
Saturday 23rd September 2000 by 100
