Presentations to returning soldiers
The Morpeth Herald 29/08/1919 reports a dinner in the Reading Room for returning soldiers, each of whom was given a solid silver cigarette case, suitably inscribed. The recipients were named as:

The report includes: “Mr. Ames made the presentations, and referred specially to Lieut. S. Redpath, who, joining as a private, rose, by sheer merit, to commissioned rank, and after being several times wounded, had finally reached home badly maimed.”
