WOOLER

German gun
The Illustrated Chronicle 23/05/1925 reports:
Wooler's German Gun
Recovered from Stream ad sent to Workhouse Yard.
Some months ago the German gun presented to Wooler as a souvenir of the Great War was recovered from the mill stream, where it had been flung by a party of the young men of the village who were averse to its occupying a position in the township. The gun has since then been placed in the Workhouse Yard at Wooler, and as there are still objection to the ordnance occupying any public place the Rural Council have decided to let it remain there.
