Messerschmidt crash, 1940
In the Aviation Museum, Bamburgh Castle, is a tyre washed up on the beach at Seahouses. It was from a Messerschmidt Bf 110 which was probably shot down on 15th August 1940 by Spitfires from R.A.F. Acklington.
The two crew members, both of whom were killed, were:
Oberleutnant Loobes;
Unteroffizier Brock.
