MILFIELD

Part 01: Prologue
MILFIELD – THE STORY OF
ANOTHER BORDERS AIRFIELD

It has taken many years of research to enable this book to be brought to fruition and many people have helped in its preparation but none more so than R D H Campbell of Edinburgh. From his personal experience and local knowledge of the airfield at Milfield Ron Campbell has supplied me with a great deal of information and I am indebted to him for his help and co-operation during the time we have worked together in the preparation of this book.

In addition I would like to thank the following for their assistance without which this book would not have been possible. Air Britain, Staff at the Public Records Office, R.A.F. Museum Hendon, Mrs M.M. Charles, G. Close, Lionel Ewens, J.E.H. Fail, H.V. Fraser, J.M.A. Greig, A.N. Lindsay, Len Lineker, A. Morgan, S.R. Palmer, Frank Pringle, E. Taylor, Mrs Ethel Waggett and N. Woodford. Thanks also to Caroline McLaughlin who typed the draft copy and finally my wife Jean who helped me with the research at the P.R.O and patiently supported me throughout its preparation.
