Memorial to Northumberland Fusiliers at Lucknow 1858
The St.George's Gazette, Vol.II 1884, publication of the Northumberland Fusiliers, reports:

"In the old Church Yard of the Residency in Lucknow is a memorial which reads:

Sacred to the memory of
Major E. Simmons
Captain F.W. L'Etrange
Captain A.E. Johnson
Captain W.M. Carter
Lieutenant E.J. Haig
Lieutenant J.C. Brown
5 Sergeants, 2 Corporals, and 77 Privates of H.M. Fusiliers
who lost their lives in the advance upon Lucknow
under General Havelock; during the defence at the residency
under Sir J.Outram K.C.B. and the subsequent
operations at Alum Bagh, and at the final capture of Lucknow.

This monument is erected by the Officers of the Regiment
now in India. December 1st 1858. "
