“A very large number of students and old students are serving in H.M. Forces, and we have observed representatives of the Royal Dutch Navy, the Norwegian Navy, and the Free French Forces in the Union. Some units of the Army are fortunate enough to have two or three King’s men on their strength: 2/Lieut. R. Graham and 2/Lieut. G.F. Lordon, who took the same course at college, are serving together in the nth (sic) Royal Northumberland Fusiliers, and, until a little while ago, Lieut. M.W. Dunford and Corporal A.W. Mayhew were in another unit of the same regiment; Captain R.H. Miers and Lance Corporal H. Goldstone are in a battalion of the Royal Engineers, while H. Hjersing and E. Evensen are 2/Lieuts, or whatever the corresponding rank is, in the Norwegian Army. 2/Lieut. K. Clough, R. Signals, served in the same unit as us during the summer; 2/Lieuts. W.S. Butler and C.F. Allan, of the Royal Artillery, were in another, not far away. We hope to publish later a more complete chronicle of the activities of King’s men (and women) in the War; any information on this subject will be much appreciated as we haven’t enough influence with the Adjutant General to get all the details from him.”

“King’s men are still winning the war on many fronts. Among those whom we have seen lately are Pilot Officer Harry Welford, who flies a fighter, and Sergeant Roger Fresco-Corbu, now an air-gunner; Squadron Leader S.F. Evans and Flight Lieutenant J.R. Boundy are doing technical jobs.

Several old students are having a high time in the Fleet Air Arm, and there are many others in the Senior Service, among whom we must especially congratulate Sub-Lieutenant H.P. Granlund, who has been awarded the Distinguished Service Cross. Congratulations are also due to Lieutenant-Colonel L.E. Marr, Royal Engineers; who has been appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire, in recognition of services in France last year.
