JESMOND
George Elder's Great War Memoirs
Bombardier George Elder from Jesmond wrote his memoirs of four years on the battlefields of 1914-18, including the Somme, Ypres, Hill 60, Passchendaele and Arras. Attempts to have them published came to nothing. These were hidden in a drawer and did not come to light until after his death. Now his granddaughter has had them published under the title “From Geordie Land to No Man’s Land”. It was published by AuthorHouse, 2011, ISBN 9781452006512.
