Christmas 1920 in Fenham Barracks Military Hospital
The Newcastle Daily Chronicle 28/12/1920 reports:

Fenham Barracks Hospital.
This year new ground was covered in the tour, and the first official visit was paid to the Fenham Barracks Military Hospital, where thirty patients were being provided for. Major Douglas, the Commanding officer, Capt. Bawden, and Capt. Dr. McCrae, Medical officer, greeted the visitors, and the patients accorded the party musical honours. The reception was quite spontaneous. A visit was paid to the kitchen, where geese were ‘sizzling’ and puddings steaming and filling the atmosphere with pungent but pleasant odours.”
