It is topped by a roof of concrete and wood three feet thick, which is supported by numerous timber stanchions, eight inches in diameter.
Entrance to the shelter is by a ladder leading from the shop, but an emergency exit has been constructed which leads through a trap door in the street outside. This opening is heavily sheltered with sandbags and slabs of concrete in wooden casings.
