Boldon Colliery's Part in the War
Devotion and Sacrifice.

In this article, it is told how, when the call came to go to war, 989 men joined, altogether 1,304 men went from the colliery into the services., married men in equal proportion to single men. Some 130 men fell, and about 5% who survived were either gassed or wounded.
