The late Colonel Gregson was a colonel in the Army, and during the war, although retired, rejoined and did useful service. He was a magistrate at Houghton le Spring and a member of Silksworth church.

Memorial to Col. James Gregson
A memorial window, representing St.Andrew and St.James was dedicated on Sunday 5th April 1925 "To the glory of God and in loving memory of James Dalton Gregson, who departed this life on November 24th 1917. Erected by his wife and daughter".
