Stonemason awarded son's pension
The Newcastle Daily Chronicle 25/01/1922 reports:
“A stonemason from Usworth appealed before Newcastle Pensions Tribunal, yesterday, in respect of the death of his son, who during the war served as a stoker on the Dreadnought. Applicant said his son was at Zeebrugge, where his ship was torpedoed. Deceased died in a sanatorium in 1920, and it was contended that he contracted tuberculosis during his naval service. The appeal was allowed.”
