Pickersgill and Sons War Fund 1939-45
The Sunderland Echo 23/01/1947 reports the winding up of the War Fund which they had run for seven years during 1939-45. The workers had contributed a penny in every pound from their wages to the Fund. Grants were made to dependants of employees who were serving. The management doubled the contribution and a total was raised of £10,411.

From the funds, leave allowances were given to the men themselves twice a year and gift parcels were sent every eight weeks.

Any balance remaining after all had been completed was to be handed over to the Yard Funeral Fund.

The fund was wound up at a dinner and social evening, at which members were asked to observe a two-minutes' silence for four employees who had died.
