Lt.Col. Bearden, V.D., J.P.
In St.Mary's Church in the north aisle is a brass plaque made by Gawthorp dedicated to the memory of Lt Col Frederick Watson Bearden VD J. P. who served in 2 Volunteer Brigade of the Duke of Wellington's 5th and 7th regiments at Huddersfield 1885-1910. He was churchwarden for nine years. He died at the Manor House in 1933.
