Co-operative Society presentations 1920
The Auckland and County Chronicle 02/12/1920 reports:

Presentations to Ex-servicemen.
On Thursday evening last a pleasing function took place in the committee room of Willington Co-operative Society, when presentations of gold medals, cigarette case, timepiece, pipes, gold-mounted walking stick and fountain pens were presented to employees who have served in His Majesty's Forces during the recent war. Each of the articles presented was inscribed with the name of the employee and the Society "for war services, 1914-18". In all, 44 presentations were made, including 4 to the relatives of employees who lost their lives in the war. The presentations were made by the president of the Society (Mr. W. Wales), who was supported by Mr. T. Henderson, Mr. J.W. Appleton (general manager), Mr. J. Horler and Mr. W. Snowdon (secretary). Suitable thanks were expressed by the employees, and the function concluded with songs, etc."
