In St. Andrew's Church in the north aisle is a decorated brass cross on black marble slab 1320 x 604 mm. It has evangelistic symbols at arm ends, verses on 3 steps rising out of rocks with water and fish shield and crest, sword in scabbard and marginal inscription:

“Lt. Col. William Trotter, 2nd Administrative Battalion, Durham Rifle Volunteers, 1863, aged 66. Placed by officers and members of his battalion.”
