Sale of goods following VAD Hospital Closure
The Newcastle Daily Chronicle 01/04/1919 carries the following advertisement;

Brancepeth Hospital
V.A.D. Convalescent Hospital.

Mr. A. Bailes is instructed by the Demobilisation Committee to remove and SELL BY AUCTION, in the ART GALLERY SALE ROOMS, SADDLER STREET, DURHAM, on WEDNESDAY and THURSDAY, APRIL 2nd and 3rd, a large quantity of the FURNISHINGS, LINEN, BEDDING, etc. including 100 Black Enamel single bedsteads, with wire mattresses attached. Some new and unused; Large quantity of 3 ft 6 in Flock and Hair Mattresses, some new and unused; 250 Feather and Flock pillows; 400 Blankets; 100 Grey and Brown Blankets, some new and unused; 50 Bedspreads; 500 Sheets in good order; 500 Pillowcases; 50 dozen assorted Towels; Carrying Chair; Bath Chair, self-propelling; 2 large Tea urns; Hand Lanterns; large Harn Sacks; Patent Bread Cutter; Potato Peeling machine; six Emergency Stretchers; Quantity of Knives, Forks and Spoons; Spitoons; Enamel Trays, etc.; 3 Revolving Summer-houses, in new order.
Order of Sale: - Wednesday: Bedsteads, Bedding and Soft good. Thursday: Furniture, Potato Machine and Summer-houses.
