Temperance Club for Ex-Servicemen opened
The Newcastle Daily Chronicle 02/08/1920 reports the opening of a temperance club under the auspices of the Consett Branch of the Discharged Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Federation. It contained a billiard table and games room, and a library was proposed. The Consett Iron Company Ltd. had given £150 towards the club.
The Federation had raised between £400-500 for assistance to widows and dependents.
