On the Plymouth Naval Memorial is the name of Engine Room Artificer Fourth Class William Carr serving on H.M.S. Hecla with the Royal Navy who died 12/11/1942. 

 The son of Henry and Mary Carr and the husband of Lavinia Carr, of Ryton, Co. Durham.

 In Winlaton St Paul’s Cemetery Extension is a family headstone which reads:

In loving memory of
our dear sons
C.P.O. William Carr R.N.
killed in action at sea
12th Nov. 1942, aged 35 years.

Also P.O. Henry Carr R.N.
who died on active service
5th Jan. 1946, aged 28 years.

Also Henry Carr
father of the above
died 17th Oct. 1950
aged 75 years.
