In A.I.F. Burial ground, Flers, France is the Commonwealth War Grave of 20/411 Private Christopher John Chipchase, serving with the 11th Battalion, Durham Light Infantry who died 19/12/1916.

He was the son of J. W. and Sarah Ann Chipchase, of Hazelmere House, Durham Road, Darlington.
Christopher John Chipchase was an architect and surveyor.

Soldiers Died in the Great War states that he was born in Darlington and enlisted in Sunderland.

Christopher John Chipchase is remembered at Darlington on D40.034, in D40.067, on D40.082 and D40.090, at Harrogate Hill on H145.01, and in the D.L.I. Book of Remembrance, page 336.
