In St. Aubert British Cemetery, France is the Commonwealth War Grave of 16085 Private Arthur Carr, serving with the “C” Company 1st Battalion Scots Guards who died 28/11/1917.

He was the son of George and Sarah E. Carr, of 7, Eleanor Street, Cullercoats, Northumberland.

In Whitley Bay (Hartley South) Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:

Aged 33 years.

Ernest James, K.O.Y.L.I.
died July 24th 1917, aged 25 years
interred in France.

Arthur, S.G., died Nov. 28th 1917
aged 20 years.

He was Assistant Scout Master with the 1st Cullercoats (St. George’s) Scout Group.

He died of wounds in a German hospital after being taken as a prisoner of war.

His brothers George and Ernest James are also died in WW1.
