In Terlincthun British Cemetery, Wimille, France is the Commonwealth War Grave of M/349561 Private Henry Lawson, serving with the Mechanical Transport Army Service Corps who died 23/10/1918.

The son of Robert and Elizabeth Lawson, of Seaton Delaval and the husband of Margaret Lawson, of 22, Avenue Road, Seaton Delaval, Northumberland.

Ken Lawson tells us (2026) :-
Henry Lawson was one of 3 brothers who died in the 1st World War. In 1907 he married a widow called Margaret Cooper who was 8 years older than him and had 2 children. Henry died of Broncho Pneumonia on October 21st 1918.

His older brother George died on the 1st day of the Somme July 1st 1916.

His younger brother William, my grandfather, served with the RAMC, and died on the 1st day of the German spring offensive, 21st March 1918. He had married my grandmother Margaret Blanch Dodds just 7 weeks previously, so never saw my father, his son.

The Newcastle Evening Chronicle 23/10/1919 reports:-
Lawson – A tribute of love to the memory of my dear husband Pte. Henry Lawson, who died in France Oct., 23rd 1918
God knows how much we miss him more than words can tell.
Not one day have we forgot him since he bade his farewell
Daily in our minds we see him as we did in days gone bye
But we know that we shall greet him in the land beyond the sky
Blissful unions lie beyond the parting vale
Deeply mourned by his loving wife and stepdaughter Eva.
