In Sunderland (Ryhope Road) Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of:

 W.G. Magog (sic)
Able Seaman.  RN.   J/28024
H.M.S. “Pembroke”
5th September 1917  age 19

He gave his life
for his King, Country
and loved ones at home

He was the son of Mrs. Mary Ann Gardner, of 4, Cousin Street, Sunderland.

Killed in first night raid on Chatham by German Gotha bombers. Five aircraft were involved in the attack and there were 152 deaths including 130 naval recruits whose dormitory was hit.

William Dowsey Magog  is remembered at Hendon on H123.04, at Monkwearmouth on M46.04, at Sunderland in S140.48 Part 8 page 158 and  S140.106, and in our List of Ships’ Crews.
