On the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing of the Somme, France is the name of 1933 Private Joseph Henry Golightly, serving with the 1st/5th Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers who died 15/09/1916.

He was the son of Matthew and Annie Golightly, of 66, Wingrove Road, Newcastle upon Tyne.

In Newcastle Cemetery, Fenham, is a family headstone which reads:

died 4. Sept. 1930
aged 67 years

and of his sons
Matthew
aged 26 years
Joseph Henry
aged 22 years
George Frederick
aged 19 years
killed in action
Great War 1914-18

and his wife
Annie Golightly

aged 70 years

Also Annie Lilian
dear daughter
and sister of the above
died 2nd Jan 1994
aged 101 years.
