Every Name a Story
On the Chatham Naval Memorial is the name of 1901S Stoker Harry Thomas Draper, serving on H.M.S. Hawke with the Royal Naval Reserve who died 15/10/1914.
The son of George Draper, of 32, Faulder Road, West Hartlepool, Co. Durham. He was a native of Birmingham.
He was lost on board the H.M.S. “Hawke” when it was torpedoed in the North Sea on the 15th October 1915, by U Boat U-9, commanded by Otto Weddigen, between Peterhead and the Naze. Total 526 casualties.
