The son of George Weddle, and of Mary Jane Weddle, of Billingham.

Also in St. Cuthbert’s Churchyard is a family headstone which reads:-

May 24th 1941

father of the above
Passed away December 10th 1942
Aged 54 years.

Corporal Weddle is listed as ‘Died on Active Service’ in Casualty Communique No. 71, Flight Magazine, June 26th 1941, page 436. His death was registered in Gloucester.

His brother William also died in WW2.

George Weddle is remembered in Billingham on B139.01, B139.05 and B139.09
