In St. Gregory’s churchyard is the Commonwealth War Grave of:

Lieutenant-Commander
D.R.B. Cosh, D.S.C., RCNVR.
H.M.C.S. “Niobe”
24th June 1944

Lt. Cdr. Cosh was piloting Spitfire EN794 “J” of No. 2 Squadron and was killed at Goswick Range.  He was buried with full military Honours.

H.M.C.S. “Niobe” was a shore based establishment.
