The Newcastle Daily Chronicle 01/04/1916 reports:
A Tudhoe D.S.M.
Second Lieut. Christopher Sanderson, 25, 1st Gordon Highlanders, who has been awarded the D.S.M. for conspicuous gallantry, is now on leave in England suffering from a slight flesh wound and an attack of neurasthenia. He hails from Tudhoe near Spennymoor, Co. Durham, and in M.A. of St. Andrew's University.
