In Haute-Avesnes British Cemetery, France is the Commonwealth War Grave of 37651 Corporal George Patterson, serving with the 24th (Tyneside Irish) Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers who died 11/04/1917.

He was the son of Hugh and Mary Patterson, of Ashington

Margaret Allison reports that in 1911 his address was 51 Fifth Row, Ashington.

George Patterson is remembered in Ashington on A17.01 (A17.27), and A17.43. There were two G. Pattersons who died in the Great War, so he could possibly on A17.06, and possibly on A17.08
