Browne, C.N.F., 2 Lieut., 1915

In Hope Store Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of Second Lieutenant Charles Nicholas Foster Browne, serving with the 1st (Royal) Dragoons who died 13/05/1915.

There is a plaque to his memory in St.George’s Church at Ypres, shown here. It reads:

Charles Nicholas Foster Browne
Second Lieutenant The Royal Dragoons
son of Major C.E. Brown late 15th
Hussars and Kathleen his wife
of Breamish in the County of
Northumberland died of wounds received
in action on 13th May 1915 aged 20.

He is remembered in Embleton on E27.01 and E27.03, in the Alnwick Gazette Almanack 1918 page 55 and at Whittingham on W48.01
