Cross, tall, tapering and plain, in 13th Century style with chamfered corners on two-stepped plinth.

The total height is 17 feet (5.2m); it is 13 inches wide at base, with bases widening to 55 inches at bottom (33cms x 140cms).

The names from 1914-18 are recorded on the east face, and those from 1939-45 on the west.

Lettering is incised in sans serif capitals throughout.

1. This is the same as the memorial at Hartburn. These two are the only memorials known to have been designed by Sir Edward Lutyens in the county.

2. The cross was snapped in half by hurricane force winds in the winter of 1983-84 (Sunday Sun 26/08/1984)

3. The cross was upgraded to Grade II* in Heritage England Listing in 2015.
