On Tower Hill Memorial is the name of Master John Reed, serving on M.V. Western Prince (London) with the Merchant Navy who died 14/12/1940.

In Tynemouth (Preston) Cemetery is  family headstone which reads:

In loving remembrance of
Captain John Reed
of Western Prince
lost at sea December 1940

Effie, his wife
died February 22nd 1948

Percy Arnold, their son
lost at sea May 20th 1941.

John Reed was the son of John and Annie Reed, and the husband of Effie Reed, of Tynemouth.  Their son Percy Arnold Reed also died.

John Reed is remembered at Tynemouth on T36.01 and in our List of Ships’ Crews.
