The son of William and Ellen Douglas McKittrick, of Newcastle upon Tyne and the husband of Winifred Elizabeth McKittrick, of Denton Burn, Newcastle upon Tyne.

William worked in the Grocery department at the Co-op in Newgate Street, Newcastle. He left a widow and three children. In 2016, his widow, then aged 104, attended the rededication of the memorial in the Co-op which had been converted into a Premier Inn.

William McKittrick is remembered in Newcastle on NUT153 and in a RAF Book of Remembrance  page 77.
