In Lyness Royal Naval Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of Tyneside Z/2549 Able Seaman Thomas Emery, serving on H.M.S. Bellerophon with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 18/02/1916.
The son of Mrs. Elizabeth Emery, of 20, Jubilee Terrace, Bedlington Colliery, Northumberland.

Thomas was born 19th October 1896 to John and Elizabeth Emery of 20, Jubilee Terrace, Bedlington Station. In 1911 he was a labourer at the colliery.
When Thomas died HMS Bellerophon was stationed at Scapa Flow. The cemetery record says he died of accidental injuries. He is buried at Lyness Royal Naval Cemetery on the Isle of Hoy in the Orkney Islands.
