On Tower Hill Memorial is the name of Second Engineer William Gordon Scurr, serving on S.S. Trocas (London) with the Mercantile Marine who died 19/01/1918.

The son of George Henry and Mary Alice Scurr (nee Pilmer), of 44, Seymour Street, North Shields. He was born at North Shields.

The CWGC entry states that William Scurr died on board S.S. Trocas, but the Tynemouth Book says he was on board S.S. Hazelwood.

William Gordon Scurr, sometimes Gordon Scurr, is remembered at North Shields on N34.02, N34.16, N34.40, N34.48 page 11 and N34.77, at Tynemouth in T36.14 page 24 and in our List of Ships’ Crews.
