In Whitley Bay (Hartley South) Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of Second Engineer Officer William Fentress Anderson, serving on S.S. Telesfora De Larrinaga  with the Merchant Navy who died 19/03/1941.

The son of Robert and Kate Anderson, of Whitley Bay.

The family headstone reads:

In loving memory of
William Fentress
Son of Robert and Kate Anderson
killed by enemy action March 19th 1941 aged 29 years

Also Robert Anderson, father of the above
and dearly beloved husband of Kate
died Jan. 5th 1945

Also to the above Kate
died Dec. 18th 1959.
