In Gateshead East Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of M/20493 Engine Room Artificer Third Class Thomas William Stobart serving with the H.M.S. “P.37” Royal Navy who died 29/09/1918.

The headstone reads:-

dearly loved son of
F.C. Ralph and Lucy Ann Stobart
who died at Haslar Hospital Portsmouth
Sep. 28th 1918 Aged 25 years.
Deeply mourned
He sacrificed his life for his King and Country

who died Feb. 19th 1884 aged 13 months

Lucy Ann beloved wife of the above
Ralph Stobart
died March 18th 1932 aged 76 years.

who died Nov.28th 1905 aged 80 years.
